Responses to Section 2, Ashley's Questions

Question #4
I don't think that society still thinks that the only way to true happiness is through marriage because people have seen many things that lead to a happy place. In todays society there are many things that we look forward to that bring us joy and happiness. Back then there were many stereotypes given, for example girls were supposed to stay home and be house wives but thats not the case anymore. In todays society everyone has goals and has an idea of what there future is going to look like. Marriage is something that people use to find happiness but now there are more than just one kind of happiness and you, as a person must choose which one you would like.

 Question #5
The love Elizabeth feels towards Mr. Darcy is not direct contact and this does not make me question their love, but rather reassure that it is true love. When it comes to relationships, love is something found between two people and you must make sure you like the person for who they are rather than just the appearance. When Elizabeth and Darcy don't have any direct contact is reassures the reader that they love each other for more than just the physical attraction. You are never sure whether people are committed enough because love is more than just that physical attraction, but whats on the inside.

Section 3, Sydney's Questions

Question #3
Elizabeth should take Mr.Darcy back, or at least give him another chance because he has genuinely changed. Mr.Darcy was rude and obnixous character, he had a lot of pride and it was very hard for someone to look past that. When Elizabeth had rejected him, he felt and realized what he had done. He realized his attitude towards people and even life. It is very hard to realize that you, yourself have changed, so I think that Elizabeth should take him back because he took a very big step in his life.

Question #5
Mr.Bennet may not want his daughter, Elizabeth to get married to someone like her cousin, Mr.Collins becuase he wants his daughter to be happy. Mr.Bennet is aware that his daughter does not find complete happiness with Mr.Collins. Mrs.Bennet wants her daughter to get married, because she has been waiting along time to get at least one of her daughters married. She feels as if it is her obligation to make sure that her daughters are happy, through one way, marriage. Mr. & Mrs. Bennet have to complete different ways at approaching life, and taking care of their family.

Section 4, Chantelles Questions

Question #1
Jane austen chose the name pride and prejudice for this novel because o f many reasons.
Pride and prejudice were both barriers of Darcy and Elizabeth's love for each other. At the end of this novel, both were able to overcome these two traits and truly find hapiness with each other. Pride was something Darcy had because of his higher class in society and Elizabeth had to overcome her prejudice against people who were different than her. Pride and prejudice are both things that we can also have against people that we don't know and it takes many things to overcome these bad traits.

Question #4

Darcy lists several reason why he had fallen in love with Elizabeth. For starters her pure beauty had caught his attention. He mentions to Mr.Bingley that he does indeed find Elizabeth Bennet beautiful, and he was even more attracted to her when she laughed at his rejection to her at the Meryton Ball. Mr.Darcy also described her as "quick-witted" meaning that he enjoys having intricate conversations with her. This is a character trait that many women didn't posses and was very rare trait to be found in a woman, especially in that era.
