Section 2
1) Many of the important plot turns happen through letters. A letter from
Miss Bingley tells Jane that Bingley is gone for good and he is supposed to
marry Miss Darcy. Do you think Jane would feel better if she had not known
about Mr. Bingley’s marriage?
2) Would the relationships between Darcy and Elizabeth, Jane and Mr.
Bingley be different if they had useful parental advice? Do you think they would benefit from it?
3) The idea of social class in the novel is very important, is the idea of
categorizing social class still common today?
4) In this book it shows that many women marry because they feel it is
there only way of happiness. Do you feel this is still true in today’s society?
5) The love Elizabeth
feels toward Mr. Darcy evolves without direct contact. Does
that make you question their love?
