Sydney's Analysis of Setting

Section 3
Throughout the book of Pride and Prejudice, there are many locations that Jane Austen used. She made the setting of the novel during the time period of 1797 to approximately 1815.  There were many locations that were said in the book, but only two were used mostly.

Longbourn London was where Elizabeth and the rest of the Bennett family had lived. At the beginning of the novel, this is where most of the story takes place. Netherfield is where some parts are taken place, which is Mr. Bingley’s area. Netherfield is an important setting that happens throughout the novel. In this setting, Jane is introduced to Mr. Bingley as Mr. Darcy meets Elizabeth. It’s important that we keep note of this setting because it’s what shapes the whole novel and how these two couples meet.

The other location that is used many times in the novel is Pemberley. Pemberley is where Mr. Darcy lives. Many important parts happen in this place like when Mr, Darcy proposes to Elizabeth and she rejects him. He proves to her that he’s different and is genuinely a good guy.

In my opinion, Jane Austen did a great job of using many locations in the book and giving a significant meaning to them.
