Chantelle's Section 3 Response

2) Lydia and Wickham plan to run away and elope. Does this show us who Wickham really is?
Yes, this shows us an idea of what kind of man Wickham really is because he plans to run away, with a fifteen year old girl without the knowledge of anybody, not even her own family members. This shows us that Wickham is irresponsible and does not care about Lydia’s family enough to let them know. He also hides his past experiences with Mr. Darcy’s sister to everyone which makes him untrustworthy and not mature enough to take responsible for his past mistakes. On the outside, Wickham appears to be a handsome put together man, but on the inside, his true character seems to be the complete opposite.

4) As Georgina Darcy is introduced into the novel, why do you think she's a threat to Jane Bennett?

As Georgina Darcy is introduced into the novel, I think she is seen as a threat to Jane Bennet because she is already in close relation to Mr. Bingley through her brother Mr. Darcy. She comes from a wealthy family and is in the same class status as Mr. Bingley. Bingley’s sisters already admire her more than Jane, and would want her to be his wife instead.
