In the novel, Pride and Prejudice two parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Bennett have five daughters who seek for a man to marry at least one of them. In the beginning of the novel, a man
introduces himself to the family. His name is Charles Bingley. Mr. Bingley
brings along a friend who goes by the name of William Darcy. William Darcy so
happens to be one of the main characters in the novel. Jane Austen makes this
novel have a romantic twist to it. She has made many memorable parts that have
really caught my eye throughout my process of reading.
In my section of the book, the part that stood out the most
to me was when Elizabeth’s sister, Lydia had ran away with Wickham. Wickham had
already had thing with Elizabeth before but then fell for her sister. Wickham’s
family had a very good reputation and since he was planning on marrying Lydia,
it would be ruined. The Bennett family’s reputation would go down as well.
Elizabeth had kept reading letters that had came from her
sister, Jane. The letters indicated where Lydia had gone and what she was
doing. Elizabeth had told her father and he was on the search to find her.
Elizabeth was worried for Lydia because she knew what Wickham had done before
and knew he probably would’ve done it with Lydia. I find this moment memorable because if I was in Elizabeth’s
position, I would feel worried. If my sister were to run away with some guy who
has a bad past behaviour, I’d be scared. I would want my sister to be safe with
someone who actually likes them for who they are. Wickham just had an attraction
to Lydia and had fun with her. I would want a guy who would look deeper into
the person and see who they are on the inside. Being in Elizabeth’s position, I
can easily relate to it, looking out and for the best for the people I love and
mean the most.
In this part of the novel, I can easily relate to it and I
know exactly what I would do if I was in that situation. I would follow
Elizabeth’s footsteps and try and stop her sister from marrying a guy who doesn’t
truly love her.
