3) Why is Mrs.
Bennett so determined to get at least one of her daughters to marry Mr.
Bingley?
In the novel, Pride and Prejudice there’s a family of five
daughters who aren’t that fortunate. Mr. Bingley who is wealthy introduces
himself to the family. The mother, Mrs. Bennett wants one of her daughters to
marry him. She wants the best for them, happiness and possibly money. Mrs.
Bennett doesn’t just look for that, she looks for a man who could be a part of
the family and take care of them. If Mr. Bennett were to die, he would be there
to support the family. Mrs. Bennett looks for the best for their family in the
future.
2) The first sentence of Pride and Prejudice “It
is truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good
fortune must be in want of a wife”. What does this show about the author and
what does it foreshadow in the book?
The first sentence in the book, “It is truth universally
acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want of
a wife”, shows that there’s going to be romance going on in the novel. The
author Jane Austen gives us a hint of what’s there to see later on. She
foreshadows the main story of the novel, about how a man seeks to find a wife
and love. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett who have five daughters try to look for a man
who is willing to marry one of them.

5) The love Elizabeth
feels towards Mr. Darcy evolves without direct contact. Does that make you
question their love?
This doesn’t make me question their love at all. I
understand how their love can grow direct contact because it shows that they’re
not physically attracted to each other. The way Jane Austen described their love
made it seem very strong. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy had this incredible
connection throughout the book that many people can’t do. Many people today are
just physically attracted to their partner and don’t realize who they are,
personality wise.
3) The idea of social
class in the novel is very important, is the idea of categorizing social class
still common today?
I believe the idea of categorizing social class is still
common today. Many people in our society today create groups. For example, to
look at a view of a group of students in high school, a lot of them are
divided. Students that do a certain “cool thing” are categorized as being the
cool people. The students that concentrate and work are categorized as the
nerds. Our society creates groups based on what we do or even what race we are
and we don’t even realize it sometimes. Society has never changed and I don’t think
it ever will.
